Our vision is to promote healthy lifestyles and make our students lifelong learners. We aim to achieve this by offering a broad and balanced curriculum where students are taught in a supportive environment. Alongside this we offer a wide variety of opportunities outside of the curriculum.

During KS3 we provide students with the opportunity and the skills they require to participate in a number of sports. Students are also taught Health & Safety issues such as how to warm up properly along with rules necessary to compete in matches and sports. During KS3 students also learn a variety of key skills such as communication, teamwork, leadership & organisation. The students also take on different roles within lessons such as player performer, coach and referee.

In Years 10 and 11 all students get to follow an options package where they are able to specialise in sports they have studied and enjoyed in KS3 as well as try new sports. Dance is offered by a specialist Dance teacher. Students also get the opportunity to choose a examination course at KS4, the OCR Cambridge National Sports Studies qualification.

Extra-curricular & Enrichment Opportunities

We are proud of the extra-curricular opportunities we have on offer at Broadoak. They form an important aspect of the departments and college’s work. We run practices and matches in traditional sports such as hockey, netball, rugby and football. We also enter county tournaments in these events. Clubs are also offered in a variety of other sports where we bring in expert coaching such as Aikido, squash, gymnastics and fencing.
