Winterstoke Hundred Taster Day – Friday 8th March 2024

As part of Broadoak Academy’s Careers programme ‘Broadoak and Beyond’, focusing on various advice and guidance for post-16 courses and options, students are being given the opportunity to visit Winterstoke Hundred Academy on Friday 8th March 2024 to experience post-16 education and explore possible careers pathways in Sixth Form.

We are aware many students may have already chosen their Post 16 destination; however, we are also aware of a large portion of students in the year group who are still unsure or undecided, or may wish to have a ‘back up’ option.
The taster sessions at WHA are about exploring a range of different course types available, including both A level and BTEC courses, enabling students to then go on and make an informed decision about the right pathway for them, whether that be at Winterstoke Hundred or another Post 16 provider.

Students will need to make their own way to Winterstoke Hundred Academy for the usual time of 8.45am, this is at the original Beaufighter Road site, near the Landing Light. It’s important that students are not late so there can be a prompt start. We will register all the children as normal upon arrival. In the afternoon, after lunch, the students will then go off to their usual Friday afternoon PE activities. Be that at Hutton Moor, or staying on the WHA site to do their usual badminton/football etc. All students are required to wear full Broadoak PE kit to the day in accordance with this. The students will then make their own way home from WHA, or Hutton Moor, as per usual.

Students will be supervised at all times whilst at the Academy by both Broadoak and Winterstoke Hundred staff. Lunch will be available in the Canteen at WHA in the same way it would be at Broadoak Academy, anyone in receipt of FSM will be catered for as usual.

Please be aware that all students are expected to meet our high standards of presentation and behaviour. The Academy has the right to withdraw students from activities if they fail to meet these expectations. The final decision rests with the Principal.

Please do not hesitate to contact me at Broadoak Academy if you have any questions regarding the day.

Yours sincerely,

Georgia Wilde
