Year 10 PPE 2 Update
Dear Y10 Families,
We would like to inform you that the Year 10 PPE examinations are currently underway and due to finish Wednesday 1st July. PPEs provide an essential opportunity for students to experience the conditions and expectations of real GCSE examinations. They help to identify strengths and areas for development, and teachers will provide detailed feedback to support each student’s progress and success.
Subject Coverage & PPE Timetable
These PPE exams will cover most subject areas and form a vital part of preparing students for their GCSEs and their transition into Year 11. A detailed examination timetable will be shared at the start of Term 6. In the meantime, you can view the content and coverage of upcoming PPEs. This document outlines the specific papers students will sit along with suggested revision topics and sites to support student to prepare. Y10 PPEs Content & Coverage June 2026.
Attendance Expectations
We would like to stress the importance of full attendance during the PPE examination period. If a student is absent, we will make contact home to offer support and ensure they are able to attend and sit their examinations. If you feel your child may need any additional support during this time, please do not hesitate to get in touch with the school.
Exam Expectations
Throughout the PPE window, students should arrive at school on time each day, between 8:30–8:45am, to attend a pre-exam briefing in the main hall led by subject specialists. Students must bring the correct exam equipment, including black pens, pencils, a compass, a ruler, a highlighter, and a scientific calculator where required. Full school uniform is expected throughout the examination period. Students should only attend school in PE kit if they are timetabled for a PE lesson that day.
Exam Tips for Students
To help your child feel confident and prepared, here are some useful exam tips:
- Plan a revision timetable and stick to it — little and often is more effective than cramming.
- Use active revision techniques such as flashcards, Cornell note-taking, mind maps, and practice exam questions.
- Take regular breaks to stay focused and avoid burnout.
- Get plenty of sleep — rest is essential for memory and concentration.
- Stay hydrated and eat well to maintain energy levels.
- Ask for help — teachers are here to support with any questions or concerns.
Revision Guides
Revision guides for a number of subjects are available to purchase via ParentPay. These are available now, with no current deadline for purchasing them. Once a purchase has been made, please inform me (Mrs Simpson) or your child’s tutor so we can ensure a smooth distribution process. Guides will be issued to students in school once payment has been confirmed by a member of the admin team. Distribution will be coordinated by Mrs Simpson in collaboration with the main office team.
