KS4 Assessment
Students at Broadoak are assessed regularly during lesson time in order to check their understanding and learning over time.
Whilst day to day assessment frequently takes the form of teacher questioning, low stakes tests and practice exam tasks, there are two designated points in the year when students in Year 10 and Year 11 are formally assessed.
During these structured assessment windows, students sit a suite of mock exams or PPEs (Pre-Public Exams). These exams cover subject content taught across the year and provide multiple opportunities for students to apply their knowledge and understanding as well as play a key role in helping students prepare for the demands of the final GCSE examinations. The exams also allow teachers and students to ascertain their current working grade and identify gaps in learning.
How do they work?
In total students will sit 4 sets of PPEs across KS4 prior to their final summer GCSE exams at the end of Year 11.
