A leading youth charity has issued an urgent plea for a nationwide overhaul of the school exam system, citing rising concerns over the impact of high-stakes testing on students mental health and wellbeing.

In response, the exams regulator acknowledged the growing concern, confirming that an ongoing review into testing and assessment practices is underway.

However, they also defended traditional exams, arguing that written assessments remain the fairest method of evaluating academic performance.
