Broadoak students find their voices at St George’s Bristol

Fifteen students from Broadoak Academy had the exciting opportunity to take part in a Voices Together vocal workshop at St George’s Bristol, led by acclaimed musician Aga Serugo-Lugo.

Aga Serugo-Lugo is a vocalist, clarinettist, composer and workshop leader. He has performed with the nine-piece funk band Gefunkt and has also composed extensively for the six-piece jazz-fusion group Eclectiv.

During the workshop, students explored vocal harmony, group composition and improvisation, developing their musical skills while collaborating creatively with others.

Throughout the day, students impressed everyone with their enthusiasm, positive attitude and impeccable behaviour – even in the summer heat!

It was a fantastic experience that challenged and inspired everyone involved, and students represented the school with pride.

A spokesperson for the academy said: “It was wonderful to see our students step outside their comfort zones, work creatively as a team and embrace every challenge the workshop presented.

“They showed tremendous enthusiasm and commitment throughout the day, and we are incredibly proud of the way they represented Broadoak Academy.

“We hope this experience has inspired them to continue exploring their creativity and discovering the joy of making music together.”
