Broadoak students inspire younger pupils at Haywood Village Sports Day

Year 10 students from Broadoak Academy (BA) recently visited Haywood Village Academy (HVA) to lead and support the school’s Key Stage 2 Sports Day, creating a fun, active and memorable experience for younger pupils.

The students organised and delivered a range of athletics activities, including shot put, discus, javelin, long jump and triple jump, encouraging participation, teamwork and enjoyment throughout the day.

HVA pupils embraced the challenges with enthusiasm, while the Broadoak students demonstrated outstanding leadership, patience and encouragement. Their positive approach helped create an inclusive environment where every child felt confident to get involved and have a go.

Staff at HVA were full of praise for the students’ professionalism, organisation and positive attitude, describing them as fantastic ambassadors for Broadoak Academy.

The event also provided an excellent opportunity for Broadoak students to develop valuable leadership, communication and organisational skills, while making a meaningful contribution to the sporting experiences of younger pupils in the local community.

Mark Poulding, Head of Physical Education at Broadoak Academy, said: “It was fantastic to see our Year 10 students step up and take on such an important leadership role.

“They showed real maturity, enthusiasm and patience throughout the day, encouraging the younger pupils and helping them to enjoy each activity.

“We are incredibly proud of the way they represented Broadoak Academy and supported the Haywood Village pupils. It was a brilliant example of how sport can bring our schools and wider community together.”
