Broadoak students take on surfing challenge

Broadoak Academy has launched its first major House competition, and what better way to kick things off than with an exhilarating simulated dry indoor surfing activity.

Staff and students from all four Houses — Beech, Chestnut, Spruce and Whitebeam — went head-to-head in the exciting challenge, organised by Tom Thie, Associate Assistant Principal for Character and Culture.

The activity tested participants nimbleness, balance and determination, with competitors challenged to stay on the board for as long as possible. The event provided a fun and energetic way for students and staff to represent their Houses while developing teamwork, resilience and a healthy sense of competition.

A spokesperson for Broadoak Academy said: “It was fantastic to see students and staff getting involved in our first major House competition with such enthusiasm and determination.

“The indoor surfing challenge was a brilliant way to launch the competition, testing balance, resilience and concentration while bringing our four Houses together.

“We are looking forward to seeing that same spirit of participation and friendly rivalry continue throughout the year.”

The House competition is part of Broadoak Academy’s wider commitment to developing character and culture, providing students with opportunities to build confidence, demonstrate resilience and celebrate achievement beyond the classroom.
