Dan Aldridge MP visits Broadoak Academy

Dan Aldridge, Labour MP for Weston-super-Mare, recently visited Broadoak Academy to meet with GCSE Citizenship students and discuss a range of current political issues affecting young people and the local community.
During the visit, students had the opportunity to put their questions directly to Dan and engage in an open discussion covering a number of topical issues.
Questions explored the impact of artificial intelligence, the role of politics and social media, and the challenges and opportunities surrounding Weston’s infrastructure.
The session provided students with an opportunity to explore political issues beyond the classroom and to hear directly from a serving Member of Parliament about the realities of representing a local community.
Associate Assistant Principal, Rose Hooke, commented:
“Experiences such as this play an important role in helping students develop their critical thinking, broaden their understanding of the world around them and engage meaningfully with the wider community.
“It’s so wonderful to see young people so invested in the future of our community – long may it continue.”
